Hamish has directed Cancer Research UK’s Therapeutic Discovery Labs, and its predecessor, CRT Discovery Labs, since 2008. He has led the successful transition of our translational strategy to a team science driven multi-project themed alliance model where commercial partners and leading academics are involved from target selection through to clinical development. Partners include major pharma and biotech companies, spin-outs we have helped create, and other charities. Previously he had a 20-year career in pharma and biotech, most recently as Director of Research at Almirall. He has led discovery organisations in several therapeutic areas that have delivered multiple candidate drugs to the clinic, thus far resulting in 2 new marketed therapies.
